Declaration signed at discussion on Harmoniya for Climate Resilience in Baku

After the round table discussions on "Harmoniya for Climate Resilience" held in Baku, the declaration "Transforming Food Systems for People, Nature, and Climate: A Joint Call to Action" was signed, APA reports.

The signatories of the declaration will work to align the global food system with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Sharm El Sheikh Adaptation Agenda and the Progress Agenda to achieve the 2030 vision.

The declaration states that approximately 30% of food is lost or wasted. More than 900 million people face food shortages, many of whom work in agriculture. Over 3 billion people are unable to access healthy food. Today, the hidden social, economic, and environmental costs associated with food systems exceed $10 trillion annually.
