WHO Country Office in Azerbaijan urges population to be vaccinated against measles

World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Azerbaijan has urged the population to be vaccinated against measles, the WHO Office in Azerbaijan's social media account stated in this regard, SİA reports.

It was noted that compared to 2021, last year the number of measles cases globally increased by 18%, and the number of deaths increased by 43%.

WHO Country Office in Azerbaijan stated that the measles vaccine is one of the most effective vaccines: "2 doses of the vaccine are 97% effective in preventing measles infection for life."

It was also noted that from 2000 to 2022, the measles vaccine prevented 57 million deaths from measles globally.
