World Food Program resumes work in Sudan

The UN World Food Program (WFP) has resumed its work in Sudan, which had been suspended earlier due to armed clashes in the country, the WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain said on Twitter, SİA informs via TASS.

As the crisis in Sudan leaves millions of people starving, WFP is immediately lifting the temporary suspension of operations in the country following the tragic deaths of WFP team members, McCain said.

On April 15, three WFP employees were killed in an armed clash in Sudan. On April 16, the organization announced the suspension of work in the country. None of the parties to the Sudanese conflict has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
