The State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan successfully continues operational search and border protection measures in the field of ensuring the protection of the state border, the press service of State Border Service told SİA.
On August 22, at 5:30 p.m., the "Zagatala" border detachment received operational information about 1 unknown person crossing the Alazan river and violating the state border from the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia and in the opposite direction in the service area of the border outpost located near the village of Kapanakchi, Zagatala district.
At 17:45 place of the suspicious person was identified and was detained by a border guard. The detained person was Zakir Hastarov, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a resident of Mosul village in Zagatala region. During the preliminary interrogation, the border violator admitted that he had violated the state border.
Operational-investigative measures on the fact are underway.
