Elbrus Umudov, a resident of Baku, was robbed in the vicinity of the "28 May" subway station in the capital.
An unknown person stole his bag containing 23,000 manats and ran away from the scene, the Ministry of Internal Affairs told SIA. As soon as the victim reported the incident to the police, the search for the perpetrator began.
Abbas Akbarov, a resident of Absheron district, who is suspected of having committed the mentioned incident, was arrested and submitted to the investigation as a result of the operation carried out by the employees of the Railway Transport Police Department with recent traces. When he was searched, a part of the money he obtained through crime and 3 bundles of heroin, a drug he obtained for his personal use, were found and taken away. Abbas Akbarov's escape from the scene after the robbery was also seen by security cameras in the area.
Investigations are ongoing at the Railway Transport Police Department regarding the incident. If there are other citizens affected by the illegal actions of Abbas Akbarov, they can inform the local police authorities, the "102" Service-Call Center and the pages of the Ministry on social networks.
