On July 21, a criminal group consisting of military personnel of the State Border Service (SBS) and other individuals was exposed while trying to cross the border with more than 90 kg of drugs.
The General Prosecutor's Office informed SIA that regarding the fact mentioned by the General Prosecutor, 206.3.2, 206.3.3 (smuggling), 234.4.1, 234.4.3 (illegal circulation of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances), 240.3.2 (total A criminal case was initiated under articles 318.2 (illegally crossing the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan) and the preliminary investigation was entrusted to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
It was established through numerous investigative actions that the military personnel of the National Security Service Tural Osmanov, Shamil Abbasov, Habil Najafov, Kamran Jafarov, Nurlan Gasimov, Seymur Azadkhanzadeh, Ilkin Gasimzadeh conspired in advance with civilian Hikmat Khalili to secretly smuggle and sell a large amount of narcotic drugs, psychotropic and powerful substances from the Islamic Republic of Iran for the purpose of sale.
In order to carry out the criminal intention, the members of the group obtained said means in the territory of the IIR, the circulation of which is prohibited, and in July 2022, they hid them in the territory of Mehdili village of Jabrayil district, outside the checkpoint of the state border of republic and the state customs control.
According to the agreed plan, on July 21 at around 20 o'clock, 4 of the military personnel were detained by the "Ambush" border guard of the State Border Service while taking the vehicles from the hiding place.
94.3 kg of narcotics (87.7 kg of marijuana, 7.6 kg of heroin, 198 "methadone-40" 1980 pills with 10 pieces each), a psychotropic substance (400 grams of methamphetamine) and a powerful substance (" Pregobalin-150" 831 vials containing 12465 tablets (15 tablets each) were found and seized.
Based on the collected evidence, 7 military personnel and Hikmet Khalili were charged with the mentioned articles of the Criminal Code on July 22, and a preventive measure of arrest was chosen for them by the decision of Baku Military Court.
In addition, another member of the same criminal group - civilian Bashir Guliyev, who also colluded with the group in advance, was exposed as a result of the investigation. A search was later announced for the reason that he escaped from the investigation and hid by being involved as an accused person under the articles of the Criminal Code.
Complex investigative and operational measures are currently being continued.
