Heroin found on a Maldivian citizen in Azerbaijan

Employees of the General Customs Department in Air Transport has prevented yet another drug smuggling.

The State Customs Committee told SIA that, while the luggage belonging to the passengers traveling on the Baku-Doha flight was being inspected by an X-ray device, suspicious images were observed at the bottom of the suitcase belonging to Mohamed Naasir, a citizen of the Republic of Maldives.

The suitcase was then inspected by a canine service dog and the dog reacted to the suitcase. Mohamed Naasir was invited from the sterile zone to the inspection room and his suitcase was thoroughly inspected by customs. During the inspection, narcotic drug-heroin with a net weight of 3660 grams was found in a yellow, flat cellophane package attached to the bottom of the suitcase, hidden from customs control, in the form of a light brown powder.

Currently an investigation is underway.
