The number of fatalities from the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela has climbed to 4,734, Venezuelan National Assembly Speaker Jorge Rodríguez announced on Telegram, SİA informs.
Official daily government data shows that 16,740 people have been injured and 17,907 residents have been left homeless. A total of 190 buildings were completely destroyed, while another 856 sustained serious damage.
Rescue operations have saved 6,462 people, medical assistance has been provided to 33,652 victims, and aid has reached 128,324 families. In addition, 20,903 people have been accommodated in temporary camps, and more than 10,000 tons of food have been delivered to those affected.
On June 24, Venezuela was struck by two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude, occurring about 40 seconds apart. Following the main tremors, 1,275 aftershocks were recorded.
