Preliminary cause of deadly fire in Azerbaijan's Sabirabad revealed

The preliminary cause of the tragic house fire in the village of Mughan Ganjali, Sabirabad district, which claimed the lives of four people, has been identified.

According to information obtained by SİA, the fire broke out during nighttime hours due to an electrical short circuit in the home's wiring. All four victims, who were sleeping at the time, succumbed to the flames before they could escape.

The fire occurred in a two-story residential building. Emergency response units from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) were dispatched to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire. During the search operations, it was determined that the residence belonged to Bahar Imanova. The deceased have been identified as her son, Tural Imanov (born 1989), his wife Safali Imanova (born 2002), and their two young children — Osmanbay Imansoy (born 2020) and Esma Imansoy (born 2024).

A criminal investigation has been launched by the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations under Article 225.3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which pertains to the violation of fire safety regulations resulting in the death of two or more individuals. Relevant forensic examinations have been ordered, and the investigation is ongoing.
