Pakistan's permanent rep to UN: 'There is a risk of serious escalation with India'

There is a risk of escalation between India and Pakistan, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said, SİA informs.

"The situation on the ground is very tense. There is a risk of serious escalation between India and Pakistan," said the diplomat.

Ahmad believes that such a situation has developed due to New Delhi's fault. Besides, he emphasized that the international community needs to make efforts to avoid a conflict that would not serve anyone's interests.

On May 4, Islamabad requested a meeting of the UN Security Council amid rising tensions with New Delhi. The date of the meeting is not yet known.
