Special Rep: Armenia plundered Azerbaijan's natural resources during occupation

Armenia plundered Azerbaijan's natural resources during the occupation period, said Elchin Yusubov, the Azerbaijani President’s Special Representative in the city of Khankandi, as well as in Aghdara and Khojaly districts, Report informs.

Yusubov made remarks at Karabakh University during the diplomatic corps' visit to Khankandi.

He noted that Armenia committed serious war crimes against Azerbaijan over 30 years: "During that period, the existing infrastructure was neglected, forests were cut down, waters were polluted, natural resources were plundered. Religious and cultural monuments belonging to the Azerbaijani people were destroyed, our historical monuments were falsified, and graves were demolished."

The special representative emphasized that after Azerbaijan liberated its territories from occupation, it made efforts to meet all the needs of Armenian citizens who remained there: "During the occupation period, Khankandi's architectural style was seriously damaged. No system meeting the requirements of modern urban life was installed here."

Yusubov highlighted that during the reconstruction of Azerbaijan's territories after the occupation, mass graves of Azerbaijanis killed during the First Karabakh War were discovered: "Killed Azerbaijanis were buried en masse. They are Azerbaijan's great losses."
