Aghdam resident in critical condition after landmine explosion

A 57-year-old resident of the Aghdam district, Nuraddin Abbasov, who was injured by a landmine, is in critical condition, TABIB told SİA.

According to the information, the man was hospitalized in the Emergency Medical Department of the Barda District Central Hospital on April 2 around 12:00 PM.

He is scheduled for surgery, during which the lower third of his right shin will be amputated. His condition is currently assessed as critical.

On April 2, a landmine explosion occurred in the liberated village of Chamanli in the Aghdam district.

The incident was confirmed in a joint statement by the Press Services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Mine Action Agency (ANAMA).

The statement revealed that Nuraddin Abbasov, a resident of Aghdam district born in 1968, was injured while herding livestock. He accidentally entered an uncleared former frontline area, where he stepped on an anti-personnel mine. As a result, he sustained injuries to his leg and was evacuated to the hospital.

The Aghdam District Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident.

"ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Prosecutor General's Office once again urge citizens to adhere to safety regulations, pay close attention to mine hazard warnings, and avoid entering unfamiliar areas," the statement emphasized.
