A fire with smoke was observed in a wagon loaded with charcoal sent from Russia at Hajigabul station the other day, SİA reports.
In order to prevent the fire, the wagon was separated from the rolling stock, the burnt coals were unloaded from the wagon, and cooling works were carried out. The fire was extinguished.
According to the initial version, the incident occurred due to the heat generated by the coals in the wagon rubbing against each other.
The wagon was accepted at the Yalama station in a sealed state by both customs and the consignor following the cargo transportation rules. According to the rules, the wagon must be delivered to the destination in this form.
Considering that the cargo was loaded into the wagon by the consignor, the wagon is sealed and must be delivered in this form, it is the consignor who is responsible for the incident.
Azerbaijan Railways was not damaged as a result of the fire.
An employee of Azerbaijan Railways involved in firefighting was taken to the doctor due to his deteriorating condition but was discharged home as he had no health problems.
