Black boxes from crashed AZAL plane arrive in Kazakhstan for analysis

The black boxes from the AZAL passenger plane that tragically crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan have been delivered from Brazil to Kazakhstan and handed over to the authorized commission for analysis, SİA informs via Russian media.

"On the same day (the day of the plane crash - ed.), a state commission was formed to investigate the aircraft crash. The decoding of the flight recorders falls under the competence of this commission," Kazakhstan's Prosecutor General's Office said.

The AZAL passenger plane, operating flight Baku-Grozny, crashed on December 25 near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Out of the 67 people on board, 38 perished while 29 survived the harrowing ordeal.

Preliminary data suggests that the plane crashed as a result of physical and technical external interference in Russian airspace.

In an interview with AzTV on December 29, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan put forward three conditions in connection with the incident: the Russian side must apologize, admit their guilt, and bring all those responsible to justice and pay compensation to Azerbaijan, the injured passengers, and the families of the deceased passengers and crew members of the aircraft.
