In December 2024, Azerbaijan detained 32 persons for state border violation, the Press Center of the State Border Service told SİA.
8 of them were Azerbaijani, 12 Pakistani, 5 Algerian, 5 Sri Lankan, and 2 Moroccan nationals.
As part of anti-illegal migration efforts, 7 individuals were detained while attempting to cross the border using forged date stamps, passports, or documents belonging to others.
863 individuals were detained for violating border regime rules, and relevant measures were taken against them.
As a result of anti-crime measures, 358 individuals wanted by Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities, while 466 people banned from leaving the country were prevented from exiting, and 11 people banned from entry were prevented from entering the country.
In efforts against drug trafficking, 246 kilograms and 496 grams of narcotics, along with 833 pills classified as potent narcotic substances, were found and removed from illegal circulation.
As a result of measures taken against smuggling activities, contraband worth a total of 2,200,092 AZN, including medicines, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, cartridges belonging to the Canik 55 pistol were discovered and seized.
Efforts to ensure the reliable protection of state borders continue.
