Georgian citizen wanted by Azerbaijan to be extradited from Poland

Cooperation between Polish law enforcement authorities and Azerbaijan in the fight against crime continues successfully, says the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, SİA reports.

The extradition request for Georgian citizen Aghajanov Ulpat was granted by the Lodz District Court of the Republic of Poland, in accordance with the provisions of the European Convention on Extradition, dated December 13, 1957.

Since reasonable suspicions were established that U. Aghajanov committed the crime of premeditated murder as part of a group of individuals who had previously conspired, a decision was made to bring him in as a defendant and he was placed on the international wanted list for fleeing the investigation and hiding.

He was identified and arrested in Kutno, Poland, in October 2024. Once the extradition decision becomes final, his transfer to Azerbaijan will be ensured.
