Prosecutor General's Office initiates criminal case into passenger plane crash
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the fact of the crash of a passenger plane, the Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office told SİA.
In connection with the fact that the plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) crashed in Aktau, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan initiated a criminal case under Articles 262.3 (violation of the rules of air transport safety and operation, if it causes the death of two or more persons through negligence) and 314.3 (negligence, if it causes the death of two or more persons) of the Criminal Code and assigned the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office to conduct a preliminary investigation.
Members of the investigation group established in the Prosecutor General's Office in connection with the investigation of the criminal case were sent to the Republic of Kazakhstan under the leadership of Deputy Prosecutor General Elmar Jamalov. In addition, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan sent a request for international legal assistance to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to conduct the relevant investigation and other necessary procedural actions on the case.
Measures are being taken jointly with relevant state bodies to investigate the causes of the accident and take urgent measures.
The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan expresses its deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who died in the plane crash and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured.
