Azerbaijan's SBS prevents smuggling of large quantities of drugs into the country

On December 22, at 03:25, as a result of the mutual cooperation of units of the Coast Guard Command of the State Border Service and border vessels performing the task of protecting the state border, the transfer of a large amount of narcotics to the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented, State Border Service told SİA.

As a result of measures taken by border vessels and coastal control units to search for a floating object that violated the regime rules in the territorial waters of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Caspian Sea, 13 (thirteen) suspicious packages were identified in the sea.

During the inspection of the packages, a total weight of 23 kilograms 745 grams (23 kg 475 grams of marijuana, 270 grams of opium) and 500 methadone M-40 pills containing narcotics were discovered and seized.

Operational and investigative measures are continuing.
