In November 2024, the State Border Service of Azerbaijan detained 27 persons for state border violation as part of efforts to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and combat smuggling, illegal migration, and drug trafficking, the Press Center of the State Border Service told SİA.
10 of them were citizens of Azerbaijan, 8 of Algeria, 3 of Iran, 3 of Morocco, 2 of Bangladesh, and 1 of Pakistan.
As part of anti-illegal migration efforts, 6 individuals were detained while attempting to cross the border using forged date stamps, passports, or documents belonging to others.
934 individuals were detained for violating border regime rules, and relevant measures were taken against them.
As a result of anti-crime measures, 337 individuals wanted by Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities, while 440 people banned from leaving the country were prevented from exiting, and 11 people banned from entry were prevented from entering the country.
In efforts against drug trafficking, 177 kilograms and 299 grams of narcotics, along with 6018 pills classified as potent narcotic substances, were found and removed from illegal circulation.
As a result of measures taken against smuggling activities, contraband worth a total of 1,738,172 AZN, including a night vision device, medicines, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, and Makarov PM pistol magazine, and its cartridges, were discovered and seized.
Efforts to ensure the reliable protection of state borders continue.
