Six individuals wanted internationally gets extradited to Azerbaijan

The extradition of six individuals wanted internationally to Azerbaijan was ensured, according to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, SİA reports.

In accordance with the requirements of the Convention "on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters" dated 07.10.2002, the requests for the extradition of Azerbaijani citizens Orkhan Habibov Afig, Eljan Shirinov Akif, Zulfugar Suleymanov Vahid, Arif Valiyev Rasim and Parviz Salimov Rzavan have been granted by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

Additionally, in accordance with the requirements of the European Convention on Extradition, the petition of the Prosecutor General's Office regarding the extradition of the citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Sadigov Nadir, was granted by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

As there are reasonable suspicions that these individuals committed criminal acts as outlined in the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, decisions have been made to charge them as accused persons and since they have evaded the investigation, they have been placed on international wanted lists.

Elmar Sadigov was apprehended in the territory of Georgia and extradited to Azerbaijan on September 17, 2024, while the other mentioned individuals were detained in the Russian Federation and brought to Azerbaijan on 23.09.2024, under the escort of a special convoy from the Ministry of Justice's Penitentiary Service.
