Azerbaijan prevents smuggling of 29 kg of drugs from Iran

To ensure the reliable protection of the state border and as part of efforts to combat the illegal circulation of drugs, a total of 29 kilograms and 068 grams of marijuana and 1,488 methadone M-40 pills were prevented from being smuggled from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan within the service areas of the "Horadiz" and "Lankaran" border detachments of the State Border Service's Border Troops, the Press Center of the State Border Service told SİA.

During border search and operational measures conducted on August 26 at 08:40 in the service area of the "Lankaran" border detachment, 16 kilograms and 520 grams of marijuana and 1,488 methadone M-40 pills were prevented from being smuggled into our country. Additionally, on August 30 at 01:40, 12 kilograms and 548 grams of marijuana were also prevented from being smuggled within the service area of the "Horadiz" border detachment.

Operational-investigative measures are ongoing regarding the mentioned incidents.
