A record batch of cocaine weighing 5.3 tons and worth 850 million euros was found and seized on a fishing boat off the coast of Sicily, SİA reports citing ANSA.
According to the publication, after the incident, 20 people, including five members of the ship's crew, were arrested, as well as 15 more people from the Palau-flagged commercial ship, where the drug was transported.
Among the 15 people detained on the Palau-flagged ship are citizens of Ukraine, Turkiye and Azerbaijan.
Ships of the Italian financial police brought them to the port of Palermo.
