Security Service: 13 Azerbaijanis who fought in the terrorist organization in Syria were detained and brought to the country
Azerbaijan's State Security Service (SSS) arrested citizens who joined illegal armed groups abroad, the SSS told SİA.
As a result of investigations conducted by the SSS, members of a group consisting of citizens of Azerbaijan were identified and put on the international wanted list, in order to participate in armed conflicts, accompanied by the commission of terrorist attacks outside the country on the basis of religious hatred, religious radicalism, and religious fanaticism illegally crossed into the territory of Syria, were involved in the teachings of special camps in the city of Idlib.
Operational and investigative measures carried out on the initiated criminal case established the places where 13 Azerbaijani citizens were hiding abroad, who committed the above-mentioned criminal acts - Abdullayev Shamil Tokhud oglu, Agametov Murad Alibala oglu, Guliyev Murad Firudin oglu, Rustamov Farhad Isa oglu, Sultanov Sultan Idris oglu, Huseynov Najmeddin Nazir oglu, Mahmudov Hikmet Sahib oglu, Aliyev Mais Telman oglu, Ismailov Ismail Aydin oglu, Babaev Shahriyar Rahim oglu, Muradov Haji Arif oglu, Bakhyshov Alovsar Alisafa oglu and Asadov Intigam Shirin oglu.
As part of the mutual legal assistance procedure for the international search, they were detained and taken to Azerbaijan.
The above-named persons were brought to criminal responsibility as accused persons under Art. 283-1.3 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. By a court decision, a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen against them. Comprehensive investigative and operational activities continue.
