David Denman says clearing Azerbaijani territories of mines often leads to casualties

The mine-contaminated territories in Azerbaijan are large and their clearance requires a lot of work, David Denman, the technical director of UK's RPS Energy Ltd., cooperating with ANAMA, told reporters during a briefing.

He said the work is very difficult and often leads to casualties.

Denman said three of their employees died recently noting that they were doing very difficult work in difficult conditions.

Employees of RPS Energy Ltd, Sakhavat Gozalov, born in 1981, Nadir Yusifov, born in 1982, and Farid Sadiyev, born in 1996, were killed as a result of an explosion of an anti-tank mine in the Tartar district on April 28.

A criminal case was initiated in the Tartar district prosecutor's office under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
