17 killed, three injured, as a bus crashes into car in Nigeria

No fewer than 17 persons were confirmed dead and three others injured in an auto crash at Nigeria's Yaura village on the Wudil-Bauchi Road in the Albasu local government area of Kano State on Thursday, SİA reports citing local media.

Kano Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ibrahim Abdullahi pointed out that the crash occurred as a result of excessive speed and wrongful overtaking which led to loss of control and head-on collision with one of the vehicles bursting into flames immediately.

“The crash involved a total of 21 passengers in the two vehicles out of which 11 adult males, five adult females and one male child lost their lives, while three others that sustained serious injuries involved one adult male, one adult female and one male child,” he said.

The sector commander noted that the injured were taken to the Wudil General Hospital for treatment, while the corpses of the deceased were handed over to their relatives.
