Another innovation from UNEC: Virtual Career Fair

For the first time, UNEC hosted the XIV Career Fair online.

Speaking at the opening of the Career Fair, UNEC Rector Professor Adalat Muradov said that the online fair is planned to be held every month in the upcoming future. Noting that the employment of graduates is one of the main goals of the strategic development of UNEC, the rector said that one of the indicators of the quality of universities is that they find a worthy place in the labor market.

He stated in his speech that 5165 students will graduate from UNEC this year, including 3478 bachelors and 1678 masters. In total, 5,674 graduates of UNEC, Zagatala branch and UNEC colleges will receive labor market certificates. The rector also spoke about the UNEC2B platform presented to the business world: “According to the platform, UNEC provides quality assurance to graduates, as if graduates are recruited, if weaknesses are identified, the university will train them in accordance with the requirements of the business world for three years. In addition, if a job interview reveals the weaknesses of UNEC students, UNEC undertakes to address those weaknesses prior to graduation.”

Muradov said that 66% of last year's graduates were employed and there was enough potential to increase this figure. Speaking about the fact that UNEC organized meetings with 31 companies last year and signed cooperation agreements with 9 organizations, the rector added that the information in the Agency's database will be integrated into the UNEC e-university model in cooperation with the State Employment Agency.

The rector also noted that 3722 students and graduates were registered at this year's online career fair, 702 vacancies and 54 internship programs were presented by the country's leading companies. He expressed confidence that the Career Fair would be useful and that the results would be made public.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Labor and Social Policy Musa Guliyev praised the development of UNEC in recent years, as well as innovations in the employment of graduates. The chairman of the committee spoke about the advantages of holding the Career Fair online, noting that the introduction of the innovation has created great opportunities for the involvement of international companies in this work in the future.

Mustafa Abbasbayli, Chairman of the Board of the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, stated that UNEC is constantly innovating and praised the virtual career fair as a successful platform. The chairman of the agency announced the main goals of education and employment, spoke about the demands and proposals of the labor market, the responsibilities of universities in this area.

President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (AmCham) Nargiz Nasrullayeva Muduroglu spoke about the role and projects of her organization in youth employment. He noted that within the framework of AmCham's cooperation with UNEC, students and graduates are employed in the companies included in the chamber and participate in internship programs, emphasizing that the cooperation will continue.
Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Businessmen's Union (ATIB) Cemal Yang praised UNEC's regular implementation of various measures and projects in close cooperation with the business world. He expressed confidence that the online Career Fair will be useful for graduates in employment and career building.

Then the head of the Azerbaijan Human Resources Association, UNEC graduate Tural Mammadov spoke about the requirements of the business world, the individual and professional qualities of graduates. Explaining the expectations of the business world from universities in this direction, Mammadov praised the innovation, noting that the department operates and teaches subjects to develop soft and hard skills at UNEC.

At the end, the speakers wished success to the Career Fair.

The UNEC XIV Online Career Fair will last until June 29.
