Russian Railways: Russian grain shipment to Armenia through Azerbaijan becomes regular

“The shipment of Russian grain via the Russian Railways network to Armenia through Azerbaijan has acquired a regular character, with plans underway to further develop this route,” said Sergey Pavlov, First Deputy Managing Director of Russian Railways.

He noted that following the lifting of restrictions on cargo transit to Armenia through Azerbaijan in November 2025, the first grain train in many years successfully travelled from Russia to Armenia.

Previously, a batch of Russian wheat, consisting of 15 grain wagons, was dispatched to Armenia via Azerbaijan in November 2025 — the first such delivery since 1990. According to the Russian Ministry of Transport, shipments of other types of cargo will also be explored via this route.
