Azerbaijan introduces 100-manat fee for registering more than one mobile phone per person
Azerbaijan has approved new rules, meaning that anyone bringing more than one mobile phone into the country for personal use in a calendar year will have to pay a 100-manat state fee to register each additional device, SİA reports.
From this year, mobile phones will also be subject to excise tax. Under amendments signed by President Ilham Aliyev to the Tax Code and the Law on State Fees, a 20-manat excise duty will apply to every imported mobile device. One phone per person per year, brought in for personal use, will be exempt from the excise tax.
However, regardless of the phone’s market value, any additional device imported by an individual in the same year will require a 100-manat registration fee.
The relevant executive authority will approve the amount of the annual state fee for registering mobile devices.
