20 Chinese companies have expressed interest in investing in Azerbaijan

Twenty enterprises from 12 provinces of China, mostly private companies, have expressed their desire to invest in Azerbaijan, He Zhengwei, President of the China Association for Overseas Development, said at the 1st Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2025), according to Report.

"Holding an investment forum in Azerbaijan today has special significance. It is an excellent platform for establishing contacts. We saw that representatives came not only from China but also from Europe, particularly Belgium. This is truly an important event for attracting foreign investments," noted the head of the association.

He Zhengwei emphasized the importance for Azerbaijan to pay attention to Chinese investments, naming three main reasons:

"Chinese overseas investments have been among the top three in the world for 13 years, accounting for 11.9% of the global volume in 2024. This opens significant potential for Azerbaijan. Secondly, a decline in domestic demand in China and excess production encourages companies to seek new markets with higher demand. Azerbaijan fully meets these criteria. Thirdly, a shift in strategy of Chinese companies: whereas they previously focused on resource extraction, today they invest in non-oil sectors and manufacturing, which aligns with Azerbaijan"s priorities."

According to him, the prospects for cooperation are especially strong in three areas: transport and logistics, including the route from China to Europe via Kazakhstan and Baku; renewable energy – development of solar and wind projects in Azerbaijan; and smart manufacturing – implementation of "intelligent technologies," including vehicles, buildings, and management systems.

"Cooperation between China and Azerbaijan has great prospects – from logistics to innovative manufacturing," He Zhengwei concluded.
