Azerbaijan highlights cultural ties with China at 8th Silk Road Culture Expo
The 8th Silk Road Cultural Expo opened in Dunhuang, China, bringing together representatives from nearly a hundred countries and several international organizations, SİA reports.
The event, themed “Strengthening Cultural Exchanges and Promoting Mutual Learning Among Civilizations,” aims to strengthen cultural collaboration among nations along the historic Silk Road and create a new platform for mutual understanding.
The exhibition featured four thematic forums and concert performances by artistic groups from various countries. Aqshin Aliyev, Head of the Azerbaijani Language Department at Beijing Foreign Studies University and PhD in Philology, delivered a presentation at the forum “Practical Ways to Promote Dunhuang Culture Internationally,” discussing methods for translating culturally significant terms.
Aliyev emphasized the historical cultural ties between Azerbaijan and China along the Silk Road, highlighting the role of contemporary academic translation in enhancing these connections. He also presented his research on the challenges of translating Dunhuang and Silk Road cultural terms and strategies to address them.
