ICPC Foundation President highlights Azerbaijan's host role in World Finals
The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Final 2025, held in Baku, brought together top teams from across the globe. Among them were 139 teams selected from more than 63,000 students representing over 70 countries, including participants from ADA University and other Azerbaijani institutions, said William B. Poucher, president of the ICPC Foundation, SİA reports.
Speaking at a press conference dedicated to the event, explaining the reasons behind choosing Azerbaijan as the host, Poucher also expressed gratitude to local partners supporting the finals, including the Central Bank, PASHA Bank, and the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, noting their commitment to fostering talented youth and contributing to the technological future of the country and the region.
Poucher emphasized that in today’s interconnected world, physical boundaries no longer limit people’s minds and hearts, which can operate globally through digital channels.
“We are living in a digital renaissance. Currently, $14 trillion of the global economy depends on digital services. Sponsors such as Huawei, JetBrains, OpenAI, and Google DeepMind provide young people with new opportunities. The students competing here are catalysts for future prosperity. Azerbaijan has long supported these talents, which is why Baku was chosen as the ideal host for the World Finals,” he said.
