ASCO's Dede Gorgud tanker resumes cargo transportation in Caspian Sea

The “Dede Gorgud” tanker, operated by Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping Company (ASCO), a subsidiary of AZCON Holding, has been repaired and put back into operation, ASCO told SİA.

During the maintenance, the vessel’s underwater and above-water parts, machinery in the engine room, and main deck were cleaned and repainted.

In addition, all valves on the ship were restored, and woodwork, hull welding, and electrical installation tasks were completed. New communication and electro-radionavigation equipment was installed onboard. A set of stationary “MF/HF” type radio stations and signal distributors has been put into use.

Damaged components of the gyrocompass, radar, and command broadcasting systems were also replaced with new ones.

The repairs took place at the Zigh Ship Repair and Construction Yard, after which the tanker was returned to active service.

For context, the “Dede Gorgud” tanker measures 149.9 meters in length and 17.3 meters in width, with a cargo capacity of around 13,800 tons.
