Deputy MP: New route to be created connecting Gulf countries to Black Sea
After the opening of highways in the South Caucasus, the Gulf countries-Nakhchivan-Jabrayil-Fuzuli-Aghdam-Yevlakh-Black Sea road will become a new route connecting the Gulf countries to the Black Sea, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev said, SİA informs.
"Due to its climate and terrain, this route will operate permanently throughout the year," he highlighted at a special meeting dedicated to President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Washington held at the Cabinet of Ministers on August 26.
Mustafayev also pointed out that one of the important infrastructure projects being implemented is the construction of automobile bridges over the Araz River: "The new Agband-Kalaleh and Ordubad-Siyahrud automobile bridges will not only serve as an additional connection linking Eastern Zangazur with Nakhchivan but will also enable large-scale international transportation between the countries of the region."
He recalled that a few days ago, construction of the Kars-Ighdir-Aralik-Dilucu railway line, which will connect Türkiye with Nakhchivan, was also launched: "This line, with a length of 224 km and providing access to European markets, will have an annual transportation capacity of 15 million tons of cargo. Our country has a significant role in the transportation and transshipment of transit cargo in both directions, as it has important infrastructure capabilities in terms of being located at the intersection of East-West and North-South transport corridors and carrying out uninterrupted freight transportation. In this regard, our country has become a center for transporting, transshipping, and managing large volumes of cargo."
"Along with all this, the opening of communications will also reshape the energy map of the South Caucasus, especially increasing Azerbaijan's role as an energy transit to Europe and the world. The opening of communications is a historic opportunity to ensure peace in the region. Azerbaijan, in turn, acts as a promoter of stability and cooperation in the region through this corridor," the deputy minister added.
