Euronews TV channel has prepared a story dedicated to the Baku Energy Week, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.
The event, which took place on June 2-4, focused on Azerbaijan's aspiration to create 6.5 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, which exceeds 35% of the installed capacity of the country's energy system. "The purpose of this event was to tell the world what we have, what our mission and vision are, and how we can unite the world, both regionally and globally, to realize this potential for the benefit of Azerbaijan, the world and the region. In addition to traditional energy resources, we also share our vision in the field of green energy and decarbonization," said Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Elnur Soltanov.
The TV channel emphasizes that this is not just a demonstration of existing opportunities in the energy sector and Azerbaijan's role in this issue. "By 2050, we will become a zero-emission energy company. We also have very ambitious goals for 2030 and 2035," said Vice President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Afgan Isayev, noting that Azerbaijan is striving for decarbonization and renewable energy production. Euronews emphasizes that the Baku Energy Week brought together the topics of energy security, technological progress and political cooperation.
"Energy security and clean energy exports are important topics. This region is receiving a lot of attention in terms of energy, food and water security <...> This is a great platform, and today we are here to support Azerbaijan's path," the TV channel quotes Maryam Al Mazrouei, head of business development and investment in the CIS region at Masdar (UAE), as saying.
