Average annual inflation in Azerbaijan exceeds 5% in first quarter of 2025

In the first quarter of 2025, the consumer price index was 105.6% compared to the same period last year, including 105.7% for food, beverages and tobacco products, 102.7% for non-food products, and 107.8% for paid services provided to the population, SİA informs, citing the Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the committee, in March, the consumer price index was 105.9% compared to the same month last year, including 106.5% for food products, beverages and tobacco products, 102.8% for non-food products, and 107.5% for paid services provided to the population.

Last month, the consumer price index was 100.6% compared to the previous month. In particular, the consumer price index for food, beverages and tobacco products was 101.2% compared to the previous month.

In March, a greater increase was observed in the prices of fish and fish products, milk and dairy products, table margarine, butter, sunflower and corn oils, lemons, oranges, bananas, apples, pears, kiwi, walnuts, hazelnuts, cabbage, broccoli, tomatoes, sweet peppers, eggplants, table beets, carrots, garlic, onions, potatoes, coffee, cocoa, carbonated and non-carbonated waters, cigarettes, while a decrease was observed in the prices of flour, eggs, greens, and cucumbers. There were no significant changes in the prices of other food products.

Last month, the consumer price index for non-food goods was 100.1% compared to the previous month. A greater increase than in non-food goods was observed in the prices of bricks, cement, orthopedic mattresses, furniture, jewelry, while a decrease was observed in the prices of household appliances, mobile phones, and televisions. There were no significant changes in the prices of other non-food products.

In March, the consumer price index for paid services provided to the population was 100.2% compared to April.
