Official: Azerbaijan's export to China became landmark for countries' transport co-op

The beginning of Azerbaijan's exports to China by rail has become significant as it ensured the movement of goods in both directions within the Chinese-Azerbaijani trans-Caspian transport cooperation, China's chargé d'affaires in Azerbaijan, Ding Tao, said during today's year-end press conference in response to Report's question.

"The first branch of the Absheron Logistics Center of Azerbaijan's largest logistics company opened in Xi'an. Chinese companies are actively participating in the construction of multimodal transportation within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and maintain close contacts with Azerbaijan on issues such as modernization and transformation of Baku Port and vessel production in the Caspian Sea. In 2025, China will provide Azerbaijan with more favorable conditions for transit transportation, which will stimulate growth from nearby regions through Azerbaijan to China," he noted.

The chargé d'affaires reminded that in July this year, Chinese vehicles arrived at Baku Port for the first time, and on November 24, a freight train with 62 containers was sent from Baku to China.

"Recently, Chinese President Xi Jinping noted that the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative has entered a new stage of development. China will continue to consider interconnectivity as the main line and expand new space for mutually beneficial development - of higher quality, more flexible and more sustainable," he added.

Ding Tao noted that China is ready to work jointly with Azerbaijan to promote deeper coordination of joint construction within the Belt and Road Initiative with the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route to jointly maintain the security and stability of the production and supply chains for the benefit of the peoples of all countries along the route.
