Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev has announced that the import tax on eggs from Turkiye will be lifted within two to three weeks, SIA reports citing Turkish media.
In an interview with the state television channel "Rossiya," Patrushev stated regarding the import of eggs to Russia.
"Eggs are a seasonal product. The current increase in the price of eggs is due to this. We hope that the price of eggs will decrease from January. This week, we will receive eggs from Azerbaijan. From Turkey, eggs will arrive within 2-3 weeks without an import tax. This will allow us to regulate prices," the minister stated.
In his speech on December 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted that the delayed opening of egg imports had resulted in a rise in egg prices within the country. He stated that Russia would import eggs from Turkiye, emphasizing the positive development of economic relations between Russia and Turkiye, including in the agricultural sector.
