Russian President: ‘We are preparing to strengthen our positions in the South Caucasus’

Russia intends to strengthen its position in the Caucasus, said Russian President Vladimir Putin addressing the Armenia-Russia interregional forum in Gyumri, SIA reports citing News.am.

"As for the South Caucasus, Russia has never planned to leave this region. On the contrary, we are going to strengthen our position in the South Caucasus," said President Putin.

Putin said that the Russia will strengthen its position in the region basing on all the best obtained from ancestors and good relations with the entire region, including Armenia. The Russian President expressed his confidence that Armenia’s accession to the project of Eurasian integration (the Customs Union) will strengthen the country’s economic potential, improve its investment climate and pave the way for the development of direct working ties.

Sargsyan said that the Russian Rosneft company will enter Armenia’s market.
