Istanbul Prosecutor General's Office releases charges against Ekrem Imamoglu
The Istanbul Prosecutor General's Office has released charges against Ekrem Imamoglu, who is under arrest, SİA informs via Haber Global.
The statement from the office states that after being elected as the head of the Istanbul Municipality, Ekrem Imamoglu appointed people who worked with him when he was the head of the Beylikduzu Municipality to senior positions in the municipality's departments and subordinate organizations.
"These people formed their own substructure and organized crimes such as tender falsification, fraud, illegal acquisition of personal data, corruption and extortion with threats in many municipal subordinate organizations," the statement says.
According to another charge, Imamoglu threatened various entrepreneurs, extorted money from them, and helped some of them obtain illegal earnings and legalize them.
