Italy ruled out sending troops to Ukraine

Italian Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani confirmed once again that his country will not send troops to Ukraine, SİA reports citing TASS.

“We will not send any soldiers to fight in Ukraine,” Tajani said at the press conference held on the sidelines of G7 foreign ministers meeting in Fiuggi, Italy. He added that Rome provides Kiev with political, financial, and military assistance, but sending troops is out of the question.

“We have to avoid escalation,” emphasized the Italian FM.

As Le Monde reported on Monday, November 25th, the EU countries have restarted talks about sending regular soldiers or PMCs to Ukraine. That was brought about by Washington possibly cutting aid to Kyiv after Donald Trump took office on January 20th, 2025.
