Obama: Iran talks could be a lesson for N Korea

The recently concluded Iran nuclear deal could be a model for how the world community addresses North Korea’s nuclear ambitions, President Obama said Friday — but only if the North Korean regime first shows it’s serious about giving up its nuclear program.

"But we haven't even gotten to that point yet," Obama quickly cautioned in a joint news conference following a White House meeting with with South Korean President Park Geun-hye.

Obama and Park discussed a wide range of issues in their two-hour working lunch meeting, including trade, climate change, the global fight against the Islamic State and mutual efforts on cyber-security. But as Obama re-affirmed that the U.S. commitment to South Korea's security "will never waver," the two leaders also had a specific conversation about what the Iran deal could teach them about North Korea.
