Representative of the State Customs Committee Participated in the 46th International EAPCCT Congress
The Deputy Head of the Medical Service of the State Customs Committee, PhD in Medicine, Associate Professor Ismail Efendiyev participated in the 46th International Congress of the European Association of Poison Centres and Clinical Toxicologists (EAPCCT), held in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The international congress, which brought together more than 500 in-person participants from 61 countries, widely discussed current issues in clinical toxicology, challenges related to new types of narcotic drugs and psychoactive substances, prevention of occupational intoxications, monitoring of adverse drug reactions, as well as modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of poisonings.
Within the framework of the congress, Associate Professor Ismail Efendiyev shared Azerbaijan’s experience in the relevant fields, delivered presentations, and exchanged views with specialists from various countries.
The knowledge and experience gained during the international event will contribute to the further development of services provided by the Medical Service of the State Customs Committee, improvement of screening examinations conducted among customs officers to detect the use of narcotic drugs and psychoactive substances, updating the topics of ongoing educational activities on new types of narcotic drugs, psychoactive substances and their precursors, as well as the preparation of relevant methodological materials.
Ultimately, this will support the implementation of the State Program for 2025–2030 on combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, as well as drug addiction.
