Bakutel 2015, the Azerbaijan international telecommunications and IT exhibition, the largest ICT event in the region has today kicked off, SIA reports.
The Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan has shown support for the exhibition. The organisers of the event are Iteca Caspian and Caspian Event Organisers (CEO).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, First Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies and Acting Minister Ramin Guluzadeh said traditionally held Bakutel exhibition and conference has become an important international event in the field of telecommunications and information technologies.
Ramin Guluzadeh said over the past 21 years Bakutel exhibition has confirmed itself as the exchange of experience in the field of information and communication technologies, demonstrating of new opportunities, all-round cooperation project.
"Major challenges are set for the sector of information and high technologies in Azerbaijan, which is among a number of leading countries of the world for rate of economic development. This area is declared one of the priority areas of development by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Azerbaijan is recognized as a leading state in the region in terms of progress achieved in recent years in the development of ICT. All-round reforms are carried out in Azerbaijan, which is an independent, and young state. As a result, Azerbaijan has achieved to transform its economic power in individual sectors into human capital. Today Azerbaijan is heading on to integration into the international space, it has become a leader country in the field of space in the region.
"I am confident that the current exhibition and conference Bakutel will be held at a high level and will give a new impetus to the development of ICT in the region," said Ramin Guluzadeh.
Speaking at the exhibition, Edward Strachan, Executive Director of ITE Group, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies for their support in holding the exhibition at the highest level. This year’s exhibition has brought together 203 companies from 21 countries. 15 percent of them are new attendees of Bakutel exhibition, Strachan said. "I am confident that the exhibition will open up new horizons for both local and foreign IT companies."
After the opening ceremony the guests viewed the exhibition.
Note that among the participants of the exhibition are leading IT companies, as well as Azerbaijani mobile operators, Internet service providers and system integrators, as well as distributors of famous brands.For the first time Bakcell, the first mobile operator in the country, is the communication sponsor of the exhibition Bakutel.
The exhibition draws new companies each year. This year, newcomers make up 15% of exhibitors, the majority of which are foreign exhibitors interested in Azerbaijan’s ICT market, including AVAYA, Google, Kaspersky Lab and others.
The main trends for 2015 presented at the exhibition include information technologies, 4-5G mobile technologies, services for fibre optic and cloud technologies, national broadband solutions, e-government services, as well as information security. One of the most important events in the Bakutel 2015 business programme will be the signing of an agreement between Azercosmos and Arianespace for launching the second telecommunications satellite Azerspace-2. The signing will take place on 2 December at the Azercosmos stand.
At the same time, the 3rd Regional Internet Governance Forum, the first meeting of ITU’s Standardization Bureau’s Regional Meeting of the Study Group 3 will be organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies within the framework of Bakutel 2015.
