Its design is currently in the initial stage. In addition, it should be noted that NASA has hired a company that will assemble a new generation of space propulsion. This will significantly reduce the travel time to Mars by American astronauts.
The engine of the spacecraft will have an entirely new design that has not been used before. According to the preliminary calculations, today the most optimistic forecast for travel to the planet Mars is about 8 months. If the engine is designed, it will cut it twice - to 4 months.
