Dutch announces Judo and Water Polo teams for Baku 2015

The Dutch Olympic committee NOC*NSF has announced its Baku 2015 teams for Judo and Water Polo.

The Netherlands team for the Baku 2015 European Games grew by 27 athletes as the NOC*NSF named the 14 judoka and 13 women's Water Polo players who will compete in Azerbaijan.

The NOC*NSF has selected a strong Judo team to challenge for medals at the tournament which also serves as the annual European Championship.

The team features 2008 and 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Henk Grol at 100kg; 2009 world champion Marhinde Verkerk at 78kg; 2005 world champion Guillaume Elmont at 90kg; two-time European champion Kim Polling at 70kg; 2014 European champion Dex Elmont at 73kg; two-time world bronze medallist Anicka van Emden at 63kg; and two-time European bronze medallist Jeroen Mooren at 60kg.

Birgit Ente (52kg), Sanne Verhagen (57kg), Anicka van Emden (63kg), Kim Polling (70kg), Guusje Steenhuis, Marhinde Verkerk (both 78kg), Tessie Savelkouls (+78kg), Jeroen Mooren (60kg), Dex Elmont (73kg), Guillaume Elmont, Noel van 't End (both 90kg), Henk Grol, Michael Korrel (both 100kg) and Roy Meyer (+100kg).

The NOC*NSF also named the team for the women's Water Polo tournament, where the Netherlands have been drawn into Group A with Greece, Hungary, Germany, Israel and Great Britain. The group winners advance to the semi-finals with the second and third-placed teams crossing over groups to play for a spot in the last four. The Dutch men's team did not qualify.
