Both coaches nominated 22 players to the German Olympic officials but only 14 players from each team will participate at the Baku 2015 European Games. Both teams feature a mix of experienced and young players.
Male players Tomas Kocian, Falko Steinke, Leonhard Tille and Phillip Trenkler as well as women's player Juliane Langgemach have never worn the German national team jersey.
On the other hand, 10 players from the German men's team that won bronze at the 2014 World Championships were named to the Baku 2015 provisional roster. And Pedullà named 11 players who won silver at the 2013 women's European Championship.
Both German teams have been drawn into tough groups at Baku 2015 as Heynen's men's team will take on Russia, Italy, Bulgaria, Belgium and Slovakia. Pedullà's women's team will play against Russia, Serbia, Netherlands, Bulgaria and Croatia.
