Brazil National Football Team goalkeeper Julio Cesar announced his retirement from international football on Sunday after his country's 3-0 defeat against Netherlands in the third-place play-offs in Brazil.

According to the statement on FIFA website, Cesar said "This is probably my last World Cup" and added "to play at the Copa America in 2015, at the age of 35, would be quite complicated. To go there without having the 2018 World Cup in mind would be selfish on my part."

"The time has come for other goalkeepers and I think Brazil has seven or eight who are quite capable of pulling on the national jersey," stated the 34-year-old goalkeeper.

Cesar, the experienced goalkeeper of the Brazil national team - 'A Seleção's (the Selection) played an important role for his country against Chile in Round 16 by saving two penalties. However, in the semis, Germany's sensational score of 7-1 trumped Brazil. Cesar conceded 14 goals in total in seven World Cup games.
