Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Switzerland and SOCAR`s representation here have co-organized a reception marking the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and New Year.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Akram Zeynalli spoke of the history of the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day, initiated by national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev. Zeynalli underlined the strengthening of relations with Azerbaijanis living abroad was a part of foreign policy of his country. The diplomat added "this holiday has become a symbol of our spiritual unity, represents the feelings of love for the homeland and national commitment in the hearts of our countrymen."
Reading out the message of President Ilham Aliyev regarding the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day, the ambassador said the role of Diaspora organizations to ensure the rights of our compatriots living in foreign countries, the dissemination of objective information about Azerbaijan and protection of the national interest has significantly risen.
Zeynalli called on his compatriots to demonstrate solidarity for protection of Azerbaijan`s interests and to closely unite around this goal.
The event was followed by a concert program of mugham singers Ehtiram Huseynov and Vafa Vazirov, and a reception.
