Capacity of Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline be doubled-Minister

Annual transportation capacity of Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline can be doubled from 16 bcm, to 30-35 bcm.

This is considered for organization of additional 16 bcm of gas which will be extracted within Shahdeniz II and transported via this pipeline, said the Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev.

According to him, if Trans-Caspian pipeline is constructed and the Turkmen gas is transported to Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline via this pipeline in the future, it’s possible to increase the capacity of Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline to 55 bcm. But there is not an concrete result on Trans-Caspian pipeline. But, Aliyev says Azerbaijan has political will. Turkmenistan’s position is indefinite, but Azerbaijan is ready to solve all issues which depend on Azerbaijan. Talks are still being held.
