Official Baku has clarified the reasons of non-recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
"Recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by Azerbaijan depends on the Nagorno Karabakh problem", said chief of the public policy department of the presidential administration Ali Hasanov.
In the interview with the Turkish Jumhurriyet, Hasanov states that the world community will never recognize such a separatist formation as the so-called 'NKR'.
"If Baku recognizes the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, this will have an adverse effect. On the next day the Armenian allies will state recognition of the (self-proclaimed regime) Nagorno Karabakh", he said.
Hasanov noted that the Azerbaijani government has big plans related to the TRNC but their implementation is possible only after Nagorno Karabakh conflict is settled.
"But today, despite all, most part of our students that are sent to educate abroad, fall to Northern Cyprus just after Turkey. The flow of our tourists to the island is growing", Hasanov said.
